Fort Wayne, IN – WBCL Radio Network,
the Christian broadcasting group whose programming is heard throughout
northeastern Indiana, northwestern Ohio, and south-central Michigan, recently
re-launched its website, wbcl.org, which
Fort Wayne Web design and development firm Cirrus ABS helped upgrade.
The broadcaster came to Cirrus ABS
looking to expand its audience and marketing outreach. While its existing
website was drawing new listeners, WBCL realized it could enhance its
promotional efforts with a decidedly more Web-oriented marketing strategy and
greater audience interactivity.
To achieve this, Cirrus ABS provided
a comprehensive custom upgrade package, according to Matt Nickols, Cirrus CEO
and founder. “We worked closely with WBCL,” Nickols says, “first, to devise
what we call a NetCentered marketing strategy. This is an approach that helps
them better use the Internet’s distinct advantages to achieve higher visibility
in the marketplace.”
Once the new NetCentered strategy
was established, Cirrus ABS then created a new, custom website design and
content architecture to increase the site’s appeal and functionality.
Cirrus also lent a hand with copywriting on select pages. One goal here
was to make the site more visible to search engines. This was accomplished, in
part, by the frequent use of key words and phrases relevant to the station’s
mission and the needs of its audience.
Powering the newly upgraded WBCL
website is Cirrus ABS’s award-winning eBusiness Suite technology platform. This
is essentially a package of advanced yet easy-to-use Web tools for effective
content management (CMS), search engine optimization, social media integration,
and execution of various business tasks. The platform includes, among
other things, a knowledge portal, and a constantly growing array of business
apps.
A Media Manager module coupled with
iTunes integration makes it easy for WBCL website visitors to view a listing of
the station’s programs and either listen online, in real time, or download
their favorites.
Rounding out the WBCL website
upgrade package is a program of ongoing U.S.-based support and technological
enhancements as they become available.
WBCL Radio Network got its start in
1976 as a Christian radio station owned by Fort Wayne Bible College. Two
full-time employees ran the enterprise, broadcasting 18 hours a day. In 1992
the bible college merged with Taylor University, which took ownership of WBCL
Radio. Today the listener-supported, not-for-profit network employs more than
25 people and broadcasts its family-friendly, commercial-free programming 24/7.
A past recipient of the National Religious Broadcasters “Station of the Year”
award, WBCL Radio is a frequent Arbitron ratings winner in its markets.
